Stable, Beta update: Yahoo! Mail and Security Fixes

Friday, January 30, 2009 | 11:16 PM

Google Chrome's Beta and Stable channels have been updated to 1.0.154.46. (Note, we won't have a different release for the Beta channel until we have something Beta-worthy come out of the Dev channel in February.)

This release fixes issues with two popular webmail providers:
  • Sending mail from Yahoo! Mail works again.
  • Windows Live Hotmail now works. While the Hotmail team works on a proper fix, we're deploying a workaround that changes the user agent string that Google Chrome sends when requesting URLs that end with mail.live.com.

If you've been using the --user-agent switch to use Hotmail, you can remove the switch from your shortcuts with this release.

Dev channel users moved to Beta channel

Friday, January 9, 2009 | 8:34 AM

If you were running the Dev version of Google Chrome, you'll soon be moved to the Beta channel. This is because the new Dev release is much less polished than previous Dev releases, so we're playing it safe. If you'd like to switch back onto the Dev channel, you can do so with the new channel changer. If you decide to change channels, please remember that this latest Dev update is much less stable than previous ones.

First bugs in latest build

Friday, October 31, 2008 | 2:28 PM

Hi all,

With every new version there are fun new bugs to handle :) Here are a few bugs that we've already identified:

  • Conflicts with Symantec Endpoint processes have been resolved, but it seems that for many afflicted, Google Chrome is not updating. If you fall into this category, please manually update, or uninstall then reinstall.
  • Have you installed a custom theme? Do you now experience loads of crashes? Here's the low-down: many custom themes involve replacing a DLL. The new version of Google Chrome, though, is incompatible with these old, custom theme DLLs. The result: crash! To fix this, please uninstall then reinstall.
  • It looks like there are crashes for those who've replaced "chrome.exe." If you've replaced your "chrome.exe" and now experience crashes... that's what's going on. You'll want to uninstall then reinstall.
Stay tuned, and let us know what's up!

Simon

We've just released Google Chrome version 0.3.154.9. Over the next few days, you'll get automatically updated. For those of you who can't wait, you can also update on demand.

With this version, we've made a whole host of stability, site compatibility, and performance fixes. We've tackled the scrolling issue, improved Flash performance (so YouTube videos should play much better), and improved reliability for those using proxies.

We've also fixed a security issue involving address spoofing in pop-ups.
